The late Kitui West Member of Parliament Francis Nyenze's wife on Wednesday revealed her husband's last words before his demise.
Speaking at the Lee funeral home on Wednesday night, Edith Nyenze explained that she prayed with her husband at 9:30 pm after which he waved at her and told her bye several times.
"He had difficulty talking but as I prepared to leave he told me bye a number of times and insistently. The ‘bye’ was different from the way he says it other times," she narrated.
She further explained that for the last one month, her late husband had been asking her to let him go but she always encouraged him to fight on.

“He would tell me, ‘Please release me, I’m ready. I’ve served the people, I’m right with God, and I’m ready to go.’ I would not release him. I would encourage him.
"Every time he asked me I refused, I told him to stay longer," Edith explained.
The former Environment Cabinet Minister died on Wednesday morning at Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with Colon cancer.
Leaders from both sides of the political divide eulogised Nyenze as a person who was always determined to serve his people.
President Uhuru Kenyatta mourned Nyenze, eulogizing him as a legislator who served his constituents with commitment and dedication adding that the late MP always championed national interests and would never allow narrow selfish interests to jeopardize the unity of Kenyans.
“I have known the late Nyenze since the time he was a Cabinet Minister under President Moi’s administration, he was always keen on preserving our unity and nationhood. I urge all of us to emulate his leadership style,” President Kenyatta stated.
Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, on his part, stated that the Opposition had lost a great leader.

"As Leader of Minority in the 11th Parliament, Hon. Nyenze served the country with great commitment and dedication.
"His non-confrontational, gentlemanly mien was a great asset in helping to build bridges among political protagonists," Kalonzo stated.
