Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has revealed why he believes President Uhuru Kenyatta is deliberately delaying naming his newly-constituted cabinet as he begins his second term.
According to a report in The Standard, Mr Onyonka, during a closed-door National Super Alliance (NASA) meeting with envoys, told the diplomats that the President was still trying to lure members of the coalition with promises of jobs in his government.
Mr Onyonka was representing Ford-Kenya Party Leader and NASA Co-Principal Moses Wetangula who was unable to attend the meeting.
The NASA leadership on Friday met a group composed of business leaders, religious leaders and diplomats led by US Ambassador Bob Godec and UK High Commissioner Nic Hailey.
The talks were centred on plans to swear in Raila as the People's President on December 12, with the diplomats pushing for talks between NASA leader Raila Odinga and President Kenyatta.

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, who was representing Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, reportedly told off the diplomats for repeatedly lecturing the opposition while ignoring the underlying issues.
Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader Musalia Mudavadi made it clear that NASA was not interested in a power-sharing agreement but instead wanted a clear roadmap to electoral justice.
NASA leader Raila Odinga was reportedly silent for most of the meeting.
In an interview that was done later, Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetangula stated that NASA was ready for dialogue, but only if it led to free and fair elections.
“The representatives told us that our competitors Jubilee were ready for dialogue on the way forward for the country, it is now time to agree on what will be on the table for discussion," Wetangula stated.
