Travel Around Kenya With Raila - Uhuru Advised

Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has advised President Uhuru Kenyatta to attend public functions accompanied by National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga, noting that the move will help unite the country.

While highlighting that the nation was polarized, the Ford-Kenya legislator stated that President Kenyatta's legacy was dependent on leaving the country united.

He asserted that issues raised by the Opposition were legitimate and needed to be discussed with open-minds.

"Let him (Kenyatta) be seen accompanied by Raila in various public functions so that he can be seen as the President of all Kenyans. This will reduce all these noises," Onyonka wrote.

In an opinion piece published on Wednesday in one of the dailies, Onyonka affirmed that the country should not be as segmented and tribal as was witnessed following the Presidential election.

He stated that there was nothing wrong with President Kenyatta meeting the former Prime Minister given the precarious position the country was in.

Onyonka, who won his seat in a by-election wrote: "If he wants to hold meetings with NASA leader Raila Odinga and his team, there is nothing wrong about it.

"I believe that the country is hurting after the election and, for sure, this country is not at the right place," he added.

The lawmaker also urged the President to look into various issues affecting Kenyans during his second term and deliver on his promises.

He urged President Kenyatta's economic team to come up with a solution for the high cost of living and ensure that the Free Secondary Education Programme is implemented fully.
