Kenyan Musician Harassed at State House

Fidel Eli Shammah, a musician with 'Le Band' was this week harassed by security personnel at State House road.

The artiste narrated his ordeal on one of his social media accounts, revealing that he got a call while driving in the area and stopped at a bus station to respond to the call.

As he was speaking on his phone, an officer outside State House came towards him and reminded him that he had parked at the wrong place.

He was then accused of flaunting traffic rules and the officer threatened to hand him over to his colleagues if he did not part with a bribe.

"So he told me there was a sign just before the station stating so (not designated for public use) and at first I was ignorant and was just gonna accept that I was wrong and ask that he pardoned me as I hadn’t seen the sign.

"He asked for my license and I obliged. He then read out my name Omusula and said wewe hujui shida uko (you do not know the trouble you have got into)," revealed Fidel.

The artiste then stated that the officers ridiculed him for his name saying hii jina yako si ya serikali  (this name does not belong to the government).

The officers allegedly warned him that they could accuse him of a major offense and he would have nowhere to raise his grievances.

Fidel, angered by their actions, demanded to know where the supposed road sign prohibiting parking was but they could not show him.

Once the officers saw his student identification card and realised that he was a law student, they let him go saying "kumbe unajua haki yako ndio unasumbua sana" (you are disturbing us because you know your rights).
