Make Mudavadi President Instead- Raila Told

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga was on Saturday advised to support Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi for president in 2022.

Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula further urged the Opposition leader to shelve his 'swearing-in' plans and forget about the presidency.

The ANC MP opined that Mr Odinga's efforts would not be wasted by grooming Mudavadi for the top seat as he (Raila) would be appointed as Executive Prime Minister.

“Swearing himself in will only serve to tarnish his image, he will only become another case of Uganda’s Kizza Besigye.

“Raila should now focus on building Mudavadi because he (Mudavadi) will become president in 2022. In the event that he supports Mudavadi, then he will be appointed as the Executive Prime Minister,” Mr Savula explained.

However, the Opposition chief on Saturday maintained that his planned ‘swearing-in’ would still take place.

Speaking at Mahanga Village in Vihiga County during a funeral service for the 16 victims who perished in a road accident at Kamukuya Bridge along Webuye-Kitale highway, Odinga assured that he was committed to ensuring electoral justice for the country.

On the other hand, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that he would no longer engage in politics for the remainder of his last term as the Commander-in-Chief.

Speaking at KICC during the lighting of the Chrismas tree, the president declared that he would focus on development as he seeks to build a lasting legacy.

"The time for politics is over. If anyone wants to engage with me in politics, I am not interested because I am heading for retirement," he stated.
