Former Nation Media Group Mombasa Bureau Editor Njuguna Mutonya is dead.
The ex-editor died on Sunday morning as he was being taken to hospital for treatment.
Speaking to the Nation, the family revealed that Mr Mutonya suffered a heart attack on Sunday morning.
"We hurried to arrange for an ambulance but by the time we arrived at the hospital, he had already passed on," Mr Mutonya's sister stated.

Prior to his death, he served as a lecturer at the Technical University of Mombasa.
He also worked with the Nation from 1989 to 2009 when he resigned.
Mr Mutonya's death comes barely a week after the Standard Media Group (KTN News) lost its sign language interpreter William Sila.
He succumbed to an illness at his home after complaining of breathing problems.
Before his death, he was a popular face on KTN news appearing frequently during the KTN Prime Time news.

The KTN journalist is one of the pioneering sign language interpreters in the Kenyan TV industry.
He graduated from Moi University with a Bachelors in Linguistics, Media, and Communication.
