County Employees Absent on Day 1 of Work to Miss Salaries

Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga on Wednesday stated that employees who failed to report to work on the first day would not be paid for days they were absent.

Governor Rasanga on Wednesday made impromptu visits to various county departments where over 300 workers were found to be absent.

Following the discovery, the County boss ordered for a roll call adding that tough action would be taken against all those who missed work.

He also directed that warning and show-cause letters should be written to all the absentee employees.

Reports in the Standard indicate that County Directors, Chief officers, and Executive Committee members were among the absentees.

150 revenue workers in the county were, however, not spared as the governor ordered for their immediate dismissal.

In a letter to the County Human Resource boss, Governor Rasanga directed that termination letters be issued to the 150 employees.

This is the second time the governor has directed employees to vacate office.

In August 2017, he ordered all employees who did not support his re-election bid to resign from office arguing that it was not okay for employees who supported other candidates to work in his government.

“I want to tell those who supported all my opponents in the elections not to report to work. Therefore, they are forewarned as I will not take a pen and paper to sack them but the public will do that.

"It is wrong for such persons to continue clinging to county government offices,” Rasanga stated.
