Details have emerged of a notorious crime syndicate in Mombasa that kidnapped 10 girls, three of whom were from India.
Through her social media account, the Indian Minister of External Affairs Ms Sushma Swaraj confirmed that the girls had been rescued from the human trafficking gang.
"We have rescued three Indian girls from Kenya. The girls were victims of an organized crime syndicate that indulged in trafficking of girls. Seven Nepalese girls were also rescued.
"Their Passports and phones were taken and they were held captive in Mombasa," she tweeted on Thursday.

Ms Swaraj disclosed that the girls were flown back to their country following the rescue mission.
"We have flown our girls back to India. We are sharing details with Government of Punjab so that a case is registered against the agents and people involved," she stated.
She further thanked Kenyans for their intervention in the mission, acknowledging the efforts by the Indian High Commission in Kenya and the Kenya Police.
"I appreciate the efforts of Ms Suchitra Durai, Indian High Commissioner in Kenya. Our First Secretary Karan Yadav deserves a special mention. We thank the Kenyan Police for their help," she concluded.
Earlier in December, detectives from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and Scotland Yard rescued 95 children after they raided madrassa in Likoni, Mombasa County.
Confirming the operation, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) official Grace Ndirangu stated that some of the children found were from the United Kingdom, the United States, Zambia, and Tanzania.
About 20 children were reportedly foreigners while others were Kenyans, with a majority being of Somali origin.
