Social media users were on Thursday excited by a watch President Uhuru Kenyatta wore during the requiem mass of the late professor Calestous Juma worth Sh720,000.
Kenyans on Twitter discussed the Head of State further applauding him for either having a “great taste in watches or his stylist had an expensive taste”.
The Santon 100 Carbon watch is just one in a very expensive collection that President Uhuru owns.
While just one of Uhuru’s watch costs as much as buying a plot, most Kenyans could only afford to look at the timepieces through internet images.
In his expensive collection stands an Arnold & Sons luxurious wristwatch that retails at a cool Sh2.1 million.

Arguably the most expensive watch in the President’s collection, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak’s price tag is a whooping Sh3.8 million that is followed by the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Collection watch at Sh3.3 million.
In his Rolex assemblage, the Head of State also owns a Rolex Submariner Green Bezel worth Sh855,000, a Rolex Submariner valued at Sh850,000 and a Rolex Oyster Perpetual which costs Sh529,200.
Speaking during Prof Juma’s mass at Holy Family Basilica, Nairobi, President Kenyatta eulogised the Harvard lecturer as a scholar who displayed virtues of persistence and innovation.
“Prof Juma’s formal teaching career began at Egoji and ended at Havard. That is the power of persistence: He simply kept going, improving himself and his students along the way. We ought to take that lesson to heart,” the President stated.
He further urged Kenyans to emulate Prof Juma because he had “appetite for knowledge and was generous in sharing it”.
