Aden Duale Addresses DP Ruto's Alleged Split With Uhuru

Majority Leader in the National Assembly  Aden Duale on Sunday dismissed claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto were split over the naming of the first list of the Cabinet.

According to the Nation, the DP Ruto missed President Kenyatta's Friday's press briefing because he was opposed some of the individuals the President intended to bring on board.

Nonetheless, the Garissa Town MP termed these reports false which are meant to create controversy during Mr Kenyatta's second term.

"We have one Government which is led by President Kenyatta. All of us, including me and DP William Ruto, are our leader and we endorse every decision he takes. Those who are speculating on the absence of the DP want to create a controversy where there is none,"Duale  stated.

Reports indicate that the DP is of the view that the Head of State should have retained some of the current Cabinet Secretaries left out of the first list.

The Deputy President's spokesperson Mr David Mugonyi also dismissed the allegations that there was tension between Mr Ruto and Kenyatta arguing that it was not necessary for the President to be present.

"The Constitution is very clear on who appoints the Cabinet who says so and so must be present for something to have concurrence.

"It is on this premise that the deputy President opted out of the unexpected announcement," the spokesman conveyed.

Political analyst Prof Mutahi Ngunyi revealed that Deputy President William Ruto skipped President Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet launch to bolster his 2022 Presidential ambitions.

According to the Prof and his team from the Fort Hall School of Government, DP Ruto's 2022 ambitions cannot gain much from appearing behind the President.
