Tension in Kiambu After Ferdinand Waititu's Latest Action

Tension was high in Kiambu County's Kahawa Wendani estate after Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu led in demolishing of some property.

According to residents, the Governor led in the demolishing of kiosks on Monday morning set up near a public toilet.

His actions, however, rubbed some youth the wrong way who vowed to take revenge.

The county boss demolished kiosks at the Kahawa Wendani bus station and also repossessed the public toilet.

Additionally, reports alleged that the owners of the demolished kiosks had been charging for the usage of the toilet.

The business owners were also accused of keeping the money without remitting any amount to the county, which owned the facility.

Those affected by the demolitions armed themselves with crude weapons and grouped themselves creating panic in the area.

Some youth alleged they had been targeted, and their source of income interrupted with an intention of kicking them out of the area

However, the county administration refuted these claims stating that their intentions were to expand the stage.

Police and county inspectorate officers were later deployed to the area in an effort to maintain peace.
