Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu on Thursday announced that he had commissioned the development of a mobile phone application dubbed the Kiambu County Employment Bureau.
Governor Waititu signed an agreement with the SevenSeas Technologies Group in his Kiambu office where the technology experts pitched their proposal.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kiambu County Communications Director Wambui Githere explained that the App is an initiative of the Waititu regime.
"We are happy and excited about this initiative by Governor Waititu that will go a long way in helping all job seekers in Kenya.

"The App will be made available to all Kenyans to find and apply for jobs that are available in the country. We will collaborate with private businesses as well as the county governments to easily advertise vacant positions on the platform," the Director explained.
Ms Githere pointed out that other than trained professionals, skilled labourers would also benefit from the site.
"That is a key area to note as often these skilled workers are left out and have to rely on connections to find jobs. It will also be a way of showcasing our county as we create employment opportunities for our people," she stated.
Governor Waititu's government, however, cautioned that details of the deal such as cost and whether advertising space would be sold would be conveyed after the deal is procedurally ratified and approved.
The Kiambu county assembly became the first assembly to pass a by-law that requires all employers within the county to hire 70% of its employees from residents of the county.
The move attracted stern action from the national government as Spokesman Erick Kiraithe cautioned that the counties should uphold national values.
