Leaked Audio Reveals Sonko's Last Orders to Igathe [AUDIO]

A leaked audio has revealed Governor Mike Sonko's last orders to Polycarp Igathe before he resigned on Friday evening.

In the audio, the Governor is heard briefing his deputy on road projects in the city and how he busted employees who tried to inflate vouchers at City Hall.

He directs Mr Igathe to follow up with Senior officials at City Hall to ensure that no vouchers are inflated.

"Your road projects are doing well although there are some employees from finance who have tried inflating figures please talk to the controller of the budget," he stated.

Secondly, the Governor directed his deputy to attend an interview at NTV hosted by Mark Maasai to explain some of the things the County Government was working on.

He noted that his administration had inherited the city at a time when it had been infiltrated by cartels and urged his deputy to give hope to Nairobians that everything will be sorted out.

"The systems we inherited are dead systems. We are sabotaged because our predecessor did not clear cartels. The problem we are having is because we inherited a messed up a city but we will manage.

"Please give people of Nairobi the high hopes," he stated.

The Deputy later appeared for the interview where he defended the County Government of Nairobi and noted that the Sonko administration was working to make the City better.

A few hours after appearing at the interview, Igathe posted a tweet on his page indicating that he had resigned from his position as Deputy Governor effective January 31, 2018.

"Dear Nairobians, it is with a heavy heart that I resign my seat as elected Deputy Governor of Nairobi City County effective 1 pm on 31st Jan 2018. I regret I have failed to earn the trust of the Governor to enable me to drive admin and management of the county.

"Without fear, favor or ill will I step down to avoid abusing or betraying my oath of office to Kenyans, Nairobians and my family. Thank you for the encouraging support given to me so far," he stated.
