Miguna Miguna Roughed Up By Gov Samboja’s Supporters

Former Nairobi Governor aspirant Miguna Miguna was on Monday roughed up by supporters of Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja.

The angry supporters heckled and booed the self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) General after he left the High Court in Voi in the afternoon.

However, Dr Miguna did not pay the angry crowd any attention as he was ushered out of the court by his security.

Miguna and Edwin Sifuna had represented two petitioners that had filed a case at the High Court in Voi challenging the election of Governor Samboja.

However, Miguna lost the case after Judge Eric Ogola termed the petition by two voters,  Armstrong Kiwoi and Thomas Mnyambu Jumwa, an abuse of court process while noting that a similar petition had been filed in Nairobi.

Miguna had told the court that Samboja presented fake academic papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for clearance to run for office in the August 8 General Election.

Judge Ogola further ordered the petitioners to jointly deposit a sum of Sh500,000.

“The cost shall be shared equally between the first and the second respondent. Other parties shall bear their own costs,” he declared.

Samboja had vied and won the gubernatorial seat on a Wiper ticket which is under the National Super Alliance (NASA) umbrella.

The Taita Taveta county boss is alleged to have fallen out with NASA after he defied calls by the opposition to boycott the October 26 repeat Presidential Election.
