Ahmednasir Explains How Supreme Court is Behind Raila’s Swearing-in

Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has explained that the decision by the Supreme Court to nullify the August 8 presidential election created room for the opposition to call for Raila Odinga’s swearing-in.

In a post on his Twitter account, Ahmednasir noted that Kenyans failed to pay attention to the end result of the historic ruling by the Apex court.

Mr Ahmednasir, who represented President Uhuru Kenyatta in the election petition, further blamed the court for opening the calls for secession by a section of politicians.

“This nonsense of secession/swearing of the people's President is the creation of the Court,” Ahmednasir stated.

“One issue Kenyans haven't given serious thought/reflections is how calamitous & destabilising the flawed judgment by Supreme Court to cancel the 8th election presidential result has become,” he added.

The outspoken lawyer had criticised the Supreme Court after it nullified the August 8 presidential election terming the court’s judgment nothing more than a fanciful embroidery of rhetoric.

Mr Abdullahi wrote in a column on the Daily Nation: “The judgment was a political edict firmly grounded on a philosophy that the end in giving Mr Raila Odinga a second chance to win the Presidency”.

The planned swearing-in of Mr Odinga comes amid claims of a tussle between perceived hardliners and moderates in the Opposition.

Miguna Miguna and Dr David Ndii, the coalition’s top strategist, have emerged as the face of the perceived hardliners alleged to be pushing hard for the oath with no room for compromise.
