A lobby group moved to the High Court seeking to stop the swearing-in of NASA leader Raila Odinga and co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka as the People’s President and Deputy President respectively.
The group, dubbed Bunge la Mwananchi through advocate Dennis Kirwa Kosgei wants NASA declared to be violating Article 1 of the Constitution should they swear in the duo.
They further argued that should the swearing in be allowed, it will amount to a mockery of the Constitution and lead to civil disobedience.
Bunge La Wananchi maintained that the conduct of NASA risks Kenya to unwarranted security threat both internally and externally.

Further, the lobby group asked the court to declare Article 1 of the Constitution of Kenya is in force, and that it is mandatory that exercise of the sovereignty of the people of Kenya after a general election is through its elected representatives.
The matter has been filed and awaits court allocation for ex-perte hearing.
A similar petition was filed by the Attorney General Githu Muigai at the High Court seeking to block the swearing-in of Raila as the people’s president.
AG Muigai asked the court to rule as illegal motions that were passed by 15 county assemblies backing the creation of constituent assemblies, which plan to declare Raila as the country’s leader.
The case has been certified as urgent and will be heard on the same date that NASA plans to swear in Mr Odinga.

The opposition called for the convening of the People’s Assembly that will demand fresh elections, after rejecting the outcome of an October presidential vote.
