Man Claiming to be Moi's Grandson Arrested After Receiving Sh250,000

A man was arrested and arraigned in a Nakuru court after an elaborate scheme where he claimed to be former President Daniel Moi's grandson.

Chrysantus Kobilo, 34, admitted that he had already fleeced Sh250,000 off a clergyman under the pretense of being the former President's kin.

Kings Outreach Pastor, Silas Chesergon, took the imposter to court accusing him of failing to import a vehicle despite having received the downpayment.

Appearing before Principal Magistrate Joe Omido, Mr Kobilo pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.

"I presented myself as Moi's grandson to the complainant who gave me Sh250,000 to import a vehicle," Mr Kobilo admitted to the court.

The Magistrate permitted the applications and ruled to have the matter heard and determined on January 29.

"The matter will proceed for facts on Monday when the court will give a verdict," Mr Omido ruled.

Kenya's second President has eight children: Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, ex-rally driver Jonathan Toroitich, former army man Philip Moi, Raymond Moi, John Mark Moi, Doris Moi, June Moi, and Jennifer Jemutai Kositany.

The former President has been out of public light in recent years with occasional public appearances when President Uhuru Kenyatta visited him at his Kabarak home and also during the 2017 elections.

The Baringo Senator has been pitted against Deputy President William Ruto by social media users, who believe Gideon is poised to vie for the Presidency in 2022.
