Aden Duale Confirms Raila's Support for DP Ruto

National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale on Friday confirmed National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga's support for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

Through his Twitter account, the Garissa Township Member of Parliament noted that Odinga's offer to support the Deputy President is a clear indication that the latter would be the only candidate to watch out for and front-runner during the next presidential election.

Duale's remarks come a day after the former Prime minister offered to help DP Ruto become President in the 2022 General Election.

He was replying to a tweet by Emmanuel Talam, the Director of Communication in the Deputy President's Office, who had brought up the issue of Ruto-Raila potential partnership in 2022.

Mr Talam pointed out that Odinga's unsolicited support for Mr Ruto signaled divisions and betrayal within the Opposition.

DP Ruto's communication aide noted that Odinga's offer insinuated that Raila had already betrayed NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka, who is the designated Opposition presidential flagbearer during the next election.

"I thought Raila was to back Kalonzo in 2022! Betrayal in City," he remarked.

Speaking at Kipkelion East during the burial of the late ODM branch chairman William Koech, Odinga announced that the DP cannot win the presidential contest without his support and urged him to reach out to the Opposition for help.

"Does Ruto think he can be a President without Raila? I can help him get there if he wants.

"My election victory has been stolen since 2007, and I would like to tell Deputy President William Ruto that he will not ascend to the Presidency without my political support," he conveyed.
