Residents of Mandera County on Sunday took to the streets to celebrate President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-appointment of Industrialisation Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed.
Thanking the President for the consideration, women especially stated that the re-appointment came as a blessing to all Mandera women.
"As women, having our son back in Cabinet tells us that we can produce good people who can take this country to the next level and we appreciate having been considered by the President," Ms Alphone Dahir stated.
Clan elders led the residents in celebrating the appointment stating that President Kenyatta took a bold move to show his confidence in members of the Somali community.

"What President Uhuru did shows he has confidence in us and we are happy.
"We urge him to consider our people in many other government positions because we supported him as a community," elder Mohamud Ibrahim Omar outlined.
A former ward representative and Chairman of the regions Jubilee brigade added: "The President has proved that the Somali and the Muslim community at large can work for this country and we appreciate in. He has also appreciated the work we did during elections as the people of Mandera."
The elders further assured President Kenyatta of their loyalty observing that the cabinet appointments had ended feuds between rival political factions in the region.
"This appointment has now united the Mandera community and we shall be supporting the government in all initiatives," Mr Omar added.
Commenting on the National Super Alliance's (NASA) planned swearing-in on Tuesday, the community leaders advocated for dialogue.
"If there is anything like negotiations, then we are ready to be the President’s messengers of peace [at] the negotiating table," the leader stated.
