The Only 2 Ladies Uhuru Follows on Twitter

President Uhuru Kenyatta has in the past been recognised as the most popular personality on Twitter in Kenya based on the number of followers he has.

Among the 34 people the Commander-in-chief follows on his account, mainly famous Heads of State, are only two women; First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and Rwandese Foreign Affairs Minister Louise Mushikiwabo.

President Kenyatta has in the past enjoyed a cordial relationship with the Rwandese Minister.

She was even reported to be among the first East African ministers to endorse outgoing Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed to the African Union Commission chairperson seat last year.

The others include Uganda’s Sam Kutesa and Aimable Otis of Burundi.

A check on his timeline also shows that Kenyatta follows only two musical artists, Akon, who is an American singer, songwriter, businessman, record producer and actor of Senegalese descent and UB40, which is an English reggae and pop band from England.

In 2016, the Jubilee Party leader unfollowed everyone except 11 people.

In Kenya, the President followed First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu.

What informed the decision, however, remained unclear then as Kenyans.co.ke unsuccessfully tried to reach Director of Digital Communications in the President's office, Dennis Itumbi.

The President is currently the most followed person on Twitter in Kenya with 2.92 million followers owing to his active interactions on social media. He is also the most followed East African Head of State.
