How Kalonzo Derailed Grenade Attack Investigation

Investigations into the grenade attack on Kalonzo Musyoka's home have suffered a setback after the Wiper party leader reportedly refused to hand over a grenade pin and a bullet found at his Karen residence.

A new report claims that sleuths looking into the attack complained about being unable to properly carry out the investigation without the exhibits.

Officers from Karen DCI who visited Kalonzo's home are said to have failed to convince the Wiper leader to hand over the exhibits.

"We are not surprised that police have decided to play such games.

“We knew from the word go that police would offer excuses for their failure," an unnamed spokesman of Kalonzo is quoted by The Star.

Nairobi DCI boss, Ireri Kamwende, maintained that investigations were ongoing but refused to comment on the exhibits.

Hours after he failed to attend the swearing-in of National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga as the 'People's President' on Tuesday last week, Kalonzo called the police to inform them that a grenade had been hurled into his home.

Private security guards stationed at his residence told police that men in two vehicles approached the home, positioned their vehicles opposite the gate and hurled the grenade.

They are also alleged to have opened fire but no one was hurt in the incident.

Police spokesman Charles Owino, who visited the scene on Wednesday, January 31, revealed that the attacker had used a stun grenade which typically causes far less harm than a disintegrating grenade.
