Nelson Havi Explains What Miguna's Lawyers are Planning to do After his Deportation

Lawyer Nelson Havi on Wednesday morning explained what Miguna Miguna's legal team intends to do following the deportation of its client on Tuesday night.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Havi expressed his disappointment towards the government's action to extradite the controversial lawyer.

Havi revealed that Miguna's legal team will be matching to the Supreme Court to have Chief Justice David Maraga explain why he has been silent while the executive has been defying court orders.

"As lawyers, we will have a procession from Milimani Law Courts through Kenyatta Avenue to Supreme Court and have the CJ explain to us," he noted.

According to the Advocate, Miguna was still in custody of the court upon his time of deportation.

The self-proclaimed general of the outlawed National Resistance Movement (NRM) was to appear before Judge Luka Kimaru on Tuesday at 3 pm after the Kajiado law courts' magistrate referred the case back to Nairobi for the hearing.

However, according to Havi, the judge together with the lawyers waited at the Milimani courts until past 6 pm when they got reports that Miguna was on his way to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Judge Kimaru then adjourned all the proceedings held against Miguna until when he would be presented to the court.

The lawyers were to appear in court on Wednesday at 11 am.

The outspoken lawyer asserted that Miguna Miguna is a Kenyan citizen who "has not been deported but forcefully been exiled."

"Miguna was born in Kenya and was given a Kenyan ID. He then fled to Canada where he gained his Canadian citizenship. Miguna then came back to Kenya after the Moi regime and was issued a Kenyan passport," he highlighted.

Havi disclosed that he does not understand how the government can claim that Miguna is not a Kenyan citizen yet they "purport to have suspended his passport and it also allowed him to vie for Nairobi gubernatorial seat."
