Here's Proof I Warned Raila About Miguna - Moses Kuria

Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria on Wednesday produced a document as evidence that he allegedly warned National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga regarding the illegalities of Miguna Miguna's citizenship.

The Party of National Unity (PNU) leadership through its spokesperson Moses Kuria had written a letter to Odinga while he served as the Prime Minister questioning Miguna's work as a public officer in his office without the relevant permits to live and work in Kenya.

Kuria argued that despite being born in Kenya, the NRM leader became a citizen of Canada and given that the country did not permit dual citizenship at the time, he ceased to hold Kenyan citizenship.

"Kenya's current Constitution does not provide for dual nationality, and it is illegal to obtain and carry two passports.

"Like all other expatriates working in the country, our laws require that Mr Miguna apply for and obtain the relevant permits to live and work in Kenya," the statement read.

Kuria, however, highlighted that the PNU coalition had endorsed the reforms on the legality of dual citizenship during the then ongoing constitution review process.

In the letter, Kuria demanded the immediate release of Miguna from his duties as the PM's advisor and any other public duty he may have been assigned.

Odinga was also asked to denounce and distance himself from the blatant violation of the laws of Kenya by having Miguna under his office.

"Alert the respective arms of the law to immediately commence investigations into all criminal aspects relating to this matter to enforcing the law and punishing crime," part of the letter read.

In the letter, the PNU leadership justified  Miguna's Canadaian citizenship by citing a high profile case he was facing involving three charges against him in the Court of Appeal.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government has alleged that the vocal lawyer had renounced his citizenship prior to his deportation on Tuesday.

Mwenda Njoka, the ministry's spokesperson, further stated that Miguna never bothered to reclaim it in a legal manner.

Miguna has declared that he has never contemplated renouncing his Kenyan citizenship and promised to challenge all Government decisions against him in court.
