Ahmednassir Gives Kalonzo Reasons Why he Must Run for Presidency in 2022

Senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi on Wednesday laid out reasons why Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka must run for the Presidency in 2022.

According to the lawyer, for Kalonzo to remain relevant in the political scene he has to run for presidency otherwise the citizens will forget him.

Ahmednasir added that Kalonzo, who was NASA leader Raila Odinga's running mate in the 2017 General Election, has to vie for the top seat or else, he will be seen as a man with no ambition since he has previously served as a former vice president.

The NASA co-principal served as the vice president from 2008 to 2013 during former President Mwai Kibaki's reign.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen's Jeff Koinange, Ahmednasir stated that it's time for Kalonzo to take up the mantle rather than keep deputising others.

"It is about time that Kalonzo stops being a 'bridesmaid.' He is a little too old for that now," he divulged.

The celebrated lawyer further noted that in 2022, all the NASA principals have to run for the Presidency to avoid being referred to as 'political jokers'.

Ahmednasir also expressed his certainty that Kalonzo will not be sworn-in as the 'People's deputy President,' as anticipated.

The Ukambani kingpin failed to take the oath on January 30 alongside Odinga in the controversial ceremony as he did not show up to the event.

However, on Tuesday after a Wiper Party meeting, Kalonzo stated that he was more than ready to be sworn-in as the people's deputy President.

“I am not a coward. We do not want to give empty dates and then we do not swear in. The commitment is there, how I wish I could do it even now," Kalonzo divulged.

“Not swearing-in for me was our own strategy. Now, we are handling this matter as the summit, the principals. Things have moved, and we need to strategize,” he added.
