Madowo Shares the Article Daily Nation Rejected but CNN Published

NTV senior anchor, Larry Madowo, on Friday shared an article that Daily Nation rejected but CNN published.

Posting on his Twitter timeline, the celebrated journalist divulged that for the first time, Daily Nation refused to post his issue on the #FrontRow column.

"This week, the @dailynation refused to print my column for the first time in nearly 4 years. The irony aside, the same piece is now published on CNN," read the post.

This comes after earlier reports that the former Trend host was issued with a warning to refrain from publishing politically inclined opinion pieces.

The strong-willed reporter had three weeks ago reportedly received a caution letter from his employer, the Nation Media Group (NMG), over criticism of his bosses.

The warning came shortly after the journalist clashed with the senior management at a staff meeting in which he complained of Statehouse interference and lack of independence at the East Africa’s leading media powerhouse.

Madowo is said to have taken on outgoing NMG CEO, Joe Muganda, and Editor-in-Chief, Tom Mshindi, over the company’s editorial independence.

“We are not about disrespect. You can’t articulate your very strong views in an unacceptable manner,” Mshindi reportedly slammed Madowo.

Madowo was recently in the headlines after reports that the government had ordered for his arrest and prosecution alongside his colleagues Ken Mijungu and Linus Kaikai.

However, the three journalists asked the court to award them with anticipatory bail pending the hearing and determination of their petition.

The three journalists revealed that they spent Wednesday night in the NTV newsroom fearing arrest after it emerged that plainclothes policemen had camped outside Nation Center.
