Raila's Response to Envoys Who Want Him to Recognize Uhuru

Opposition leader Raila Odinga, who 11 diplomats had earlier asked to recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta as the duly-elected leader, has on Sunday afternoon responded to the envoys in Lang'ata, Nairobi.

Addressing Kijiji area residents, Raila told the envoys to keep off Kenyan affairs as they were part of those who allegedly perpetuated electoral fraud, and noted that many Kenyans recognized him as their 'President'.

"Tuliwaona wakati Chebukati mwenyewe alisema hako tayari, kuna mgawanyiko na uchaguzi hauezikuwa wa huru na wa haki (We saw them when Chebukati (electoral commission Chairperson) himself said he's not ready as there is division in the IEBC and the election can't be free and fair.

"2 days before election, Godec na hawa wakasema wameridhika. Ni hawa ndio wamekuwa wakileta wizi (2 days before the election, Godec (US Ambassador) says they are satisfied. These are the ones who have been bringing fraud)," he stated.

He further alleged that the envoys wanted him to 'get into a trap'.

A new report had earlier claimed that a senior official in the US Bureau of African Affairs Donald Yamamoto was behind the no-show by the three other National Super Alliance (NASA) principals no-show at Raila's swearing-in as the People's Preisdent.

Raila, a former Lang'ata MP, visited victims of the recent inferno that razed down hundreds of homes in Kijiji.

The former Prime Minister led a few other leaders in delivering blankets, matresses and foodstuff to the victims.

He alluded to a calculated scheme by a powerful Government official to grab land in the area.

He stated that the scheme was the reason for the fire whose cause has not yet been established.
