Kenyan Company That Allowed Employees to Work From Home on Valentine's

Valentine's Day is a date set aside for lovers to express affection to one another in form of gifts, love messages, romantic dates and the likes.

One company in Kenya allowed employees to work from home as a way of promoting the culture of love.

iProspect Kenya, a digital marketing company, allowed staff to celebrate Valentine's with family as a way of investing in them.

The company's CEO, Joel Rao, stated that the move was a reward to the workers in line with their strategy of providing a holistic environment for its workforce.

“Management decided to allow our staff work from home and not report to work as a reward. It is just our way of investing more in our people.

The more a company invests in people, you get a higher return,” stated Rao.

Kenyans celebrated the day in various ways with some wearing red, sending messages to their loved ones and buying gifts but it was business as usual for the first family.

President Uhuru Kenyatta spent the day at State House where he met Senators from the Jubilee Party urging them to play their oversight role effectively to ensure devolution succeeded in transforming the lives of Kenyans.

He affirmed that the success of his Big Four agenda - (food security, affordable housing, manufacturing and affordable Healthcare for all) - depended on effective drafting and passage of relevant legislation.

The President later attended mass at Holy Family Basilica where he commemorated Ash Wednesday - a day that marks the start of Lent for Catholics.

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, on the other hand, spent the day by visiting the sick in hospital and spreading joy to the patients.
