Earlier in February, a Kenya Air Force fighter jet crashed near a school on the Laikipia-Isiolo border, near Lepurua.

No fatalities were reported as the pilot ejected before the crash.

Isiolo County Commissioner George Natembeya confirmed the incident which left Lepurua residents amazed and relieved the jet did not land on them.

In 2016, a Kenya Air Force plane crash-landed in Eldas, Wajir county, but no injuries were reported.

Colonel Paul Njuguna, who was the Military Spokesperson then, revealed that circumstances forced the crash landing in Wajir.

Reports had alleged that those who were in the aircraft suffered minor injuries, but Njuguna maintained they carried on with their assignments.

Several civilian and state planes have crashed or crash-landed in several parts of the country, leading to questions on their quality.
