3 Things Maraga has Instructed IG Boinnet's Officers to do

Chief Justice David Maraga on Thursday instructed Inspector General of Police Deputies to focus on restoring public confidence in order for them to effectively work.

Maraga was speaking during the swearing-in of Deputy Inspector Generals Noor Gabow - Kenya Police - and Edward Mbugua - Administration Police.

The President of the Judiciary told the officers that they must ensure police are disciplined and professional since the service performs the critical role of maintaining law and order.

Lastly, Maraga urged the newly appointed deputies to prioritize the welfare of police officers to enhance service delivery.

"We understand you work in a challenging environment but I urge you to ensure the service puts the public interest first," conveyed Maraga.

The celebrated CJ added: "It is high time you motivated officers to perform their duties by critically looking into matters of their welfare."

The duo replaced Joe Kitili and Samuel Arachi who were recalled for redeployment by the Public Service Commission.

In the event witnessed by Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, the CJ called on the two to ensure that police working conditions are improved as promised by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

That was the first time the CJ and Boinnet met following the defiance of court orders by the police boss to appear before the court, an act that has since been condemned by most judicial members.
