Kamba Leaders Plead with Uhuru for Appointments

The United Kamba Clergy and the Kamba Clans Governing Council have asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to consider appointing Kambas in government.

The leaders stated that the few votes Kenyatta and DP William Ruto got from Ukambani were not easy to deliver and it was high time development projects started in the area.

“The few votes that Uhuru and Ruto got in Ukambani did not come easy.

"We are appealing to the President to consider our sons and daughters for government appointments so as to influence development projects in our land,” stated Joel Nzomo, the Secretary-General of United Kamba clergy.

They further stated that the country had moved on from elections and politicking should take a back seat.

“It is the high time Kenyans moved forward and concentrate on matters of development because endless politicking is recipe for poverty and economic stagnation.

“Even those in opposition have got acute divisions but what we are advising them is to embrace peace and unity and honour those God has anointed in the previous election” added Arthur Kitonga, the Archbishop Redeemed Gospel Church.

President Kenyatta's newly appointed CS's were sworn-in on Friday and none of them hails from the Ukambani region.

During the 2017 General Election, a considerable percentage of the region voted for the opposition and it is alleged that it may be the reason they have been frozen out of government.

In recent days there has been talk that Wiper Party is divided as they want Kalonzo Musyoka to be the opposition's flagbearer in the 2022 election as per an agreement struck by the NASA co-principals.
