Senator James Orengo Should Take up Moses Wetangula's Position - ODM MP Explains

Gem Member of Parliament, Elisha Odhiambo, has stated that Siaya Senator James Orengo should take up Minority Leader position in the Senate from his Bungoma counterpart Moses Wetangula.

Explaining his reasons, the legislator disclosed that the members of the political outfit no longer have faith in the Ford-Kenya party leader hence the need for the position to be fully assumed by Orengo, who is currently his deputy.

Mr Odhiambo further noted that the National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal cannot provide adequate leadership to the Minority leaders following his unreliability.

Citing Wetangula's snub to the controversial swearing-in ceremony of NASA leader Raila Odinga, the parliamentary lawmaker stated:"Wetangula cannot be trusted with that position."

He also revealed that the ODM leaders would be meeting on Thursday to chart the way forward noting that they "do not have time for pestering people."

Speaking to journalists in his constituency, Odhiambo highlighted that ODM as a party is ready to move on because "if anything, the rhetoric of NASA does not hold without NASA leader Raila Odinga and Senator Orengo."

This comes at a time when the NASA coalition is witnessing several internal disputes.

On Monday, the coalition replaced Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr as the Senate Minority Whip with his Vihiga counterpart George Khaniri.

However, Mutula has been included in the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) lists of nominees, a move that has highly been contested.

The leadership shift comes from the uncertainty surrounding a letter that Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka wrote to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Justin Muturi, fronting Borabu MP Ben Momanyi as its nominee to PSC.
