Jubilee MP Accuses Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario of Being a Shisha Addict [VIDEO]

Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario was on Friday accused of being a shisha addict.

During the vetting by the committee on Defence and Foreign Relations of the National Assembly, Wario -who was nominated as Kenya's ambassador to Austria, was accused of being an addict of the illegal substance by Imenti MP Moses Kirima.

Mr Kirima made the statement as he asked for the former CS's stand on the government's ban on shisha.

The lawmaker's remarks offended Wario, who exclaimed that the members of the committee were disrespecting him.

Wario added that whatever he does in his private life is none of the committee's business.

Kirimi's remarks were not lightly taken as Saku MP Dida Raso and Mr Metito ruled him out of order for using unparliamentary language against the nominee.

"You may choose to rephrase your question because the use of word addict implies improper motive on the part of the nominee, " noted Metito.

Mr Kirima complied, withdrawing the word addict and opting the phrase, Mr Wario "takes shisha and enjoys it,"  leaving other members of the committee laughing.

Members of the committee, chaired by Kajiado South MP Katoo ole Metito, also condemned the former CS for poor performance during his reign in the sports docket.

Legislators criticised Dr Wario's role in the alleged misappropriation of Sh 88 million meant for Kenyan athletes in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
