10 Candidates Shortlisted for Director of Public Prosecutions Post

Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioner, Thomas Letangule, is among the 10 shortlisted candidates for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) position.

Letangule was shortlisted alongside deputy director at DPP office Dorcas Oduor, Nicholas MutukuDaniel Keiwua, James Warui, Noordin Haji, Lucy Kambuni, Jacob Ondari, Patrick GumoAbdulqadir Ramadhan to replace former DPP Keriako Tobiko.

An advert publicised on Friday stated that the ten candidates should appear before the selection panel led by chairperson Elizabeth Muli on March 8 and 9  between 9 am and 3 pm for their interviews.

Ms Muli noted that the candidates should carry copies of their originals of ID, academic and professional certificates, transcripts, other supporting documents and testimonials.

The 10 candidates are also required to also carry the clearance of Kenya Revenue Authority KRA, HELB, Credit Reference Bureau and DCI certificate of good conduct.

Members of the public were also invited to avail in writing any credible information of interest relating to the shortlisted candidates.

"The panel shall interview members of the public who will have submitted such information on any of the candidates and the information they shall provide shall be confidential," she said.

The quest to replace the former DPP began on February 14  with calls for those interested to apply, 27 applicants were received at the closure of the advertisement on February 27.

Letangule was famous during the 2013 General Election as a fierce defender of the electoral commission.

He was part of the Isaack Hassan-led team which succumbed to pressure from the opposition to leave office in 2016.
