Education Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed on Wednesday received the prestigious Adebisi Babatunde Thomas Entrepreneurship Institute's (ABTEI) Excellence in Diplomacy Award.
Amb. Mohamed became the first person to ever receive the award as Strathmore University held its inaugural award ceremony on March 7.
First Lady Margaret Kenyatta presided over the event that was held in honour of women in business ahead of the International Women's Day on Thursday.

The First Lady took the opportunity to honour the memory of the founder of the entrepreneurship institute, Dr Adebisi Babatunde Thomas who passed away in 2016.
He founded the institution in partnership with Strathmore University to teach, train and nurture entrepreneurship skills especially to the youth and women of the country and the continent at large.
"It was a great joy to be honouring a remarkable man; a man whose vision resonates with my own priorities in accelerating action, advocacy and resources towards addressing the health challenges of women and children.
"He was also known for championing efforts to advance the health rights of African Women and Girls.
"The late Professor Adebisi Babatunde Thomas was one of Africa’s brilliant scientists, an international diplomat, Pan-Africanist, philanthropist and founder of ABTEI Institute," the First Lady tweeted.
CS Mohamed has previously been awarded by the Japanese government for her role in improving relations between Kenya and Japan.
Emperor Tsugu Akihito awarded Amb. Mohamed with the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, a decoration awarded to those who have made remarkable achievements in their fields.
The award is the highest honour conferred to Foreign Nationals in recognition of their distinguished achievements.
