Alfred Mutua and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga Tour Machakos County

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, for the second day, hosted Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga for a benchmarking tour of the county.

On Thursday, the county heads embarked on a tour of various projects by visiting Mutua's satellite office in Mavoko and the County police housing scheme in the area.

Kenyans were quick to react to how much time the two were spending together with one user noting: "Where are you going to receive him tomorrow? At your house?"

"Leo kazi ni kutembeza kahiga! which loosely translates to: (Today's job is hosting Kahiga)," one user quipped.

On Wednesday the duo held a joint press conference condemning any actions to ignite tribal animosity between the Kamba and Kikuyu communities.

In what turned into a comical press conference, the two switched up their speeches with each trying to communicate in the other's language.

"Kambas and Kikuyus are inlaws. We have existed harmoniously, socially and economically. The two communities are historically known for peace and nothing is impossible if they work together," Mutua stated in Kikuyu.

The Nyeri Governor reiterated the remarks using some words in Kamba: "As leaders representing all the people of Kenya, we should champion for peace. People should hold dialogue to enhance cohesion among communities," he reiterated.

After addressing the media, the two county heads attended an ongoing Disaster and Emergency preparedness meeting in Governor Mutua's office.

"I hosted my brother, H.E. Mutahi Kahiga for a luncheon in his honour at the Machakos People's Park. We later toured the Machakos Security Surveillance Control Centre," he posted on Wednesday.

In what was a bevy of activity, the governors toured the Machakos Level 5 hospital and later watched a Confederation of African Federation (CAF) match at the Kenyatta Stadium.

"We ended the day at the Machakos Kenyatta Stadium where we enjoyed an exhilarating CAF Champions league match between Gor Mahia and Esperance from Tunisia.
