Celebrated Citizen TV Swahili anchor, Swaleh Mdoe, was on Thursday mocked by tweeps for his comment after Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich reportedly stated that the government is broke.
Mdoe wondered why Kenyans were surprised when he declared he is broke, while according to him the government is also suffering from the same problem.
He posted: "Kenya is 84 billion broke"-CS Rotich. So if the GoK can be broke why are people surprised when I declared that I am in a financial crisis?...Just thinking aloud."

However, Mdoe's comment did not go down well with a number of tweeps as most of them mocked him.
One tweep dismissed him claiming: "At least we understand how the state got broke. Over-borrowing and corruption have been the hallmark of jubilee financial mismanagement at its worst. So you tell us how u got yourself broke while still on a decent salary. Financial indiscipline too like GOK?"
Another one noted: "Kwani wewe ni wa serikali (Are you in government)? Is the private sector also broke?"
Last month the famed 'Tafakari ya Babu' anchor surprised Kenyans when he went public about his intentions to sell one of his kidneys for Sh2.5 Million due to pressing financial issues.
His declaration left netizens wondering why he wanted to sell his kidney yet he has a prestigious job and can as well get money through other avenues.
In his defense, Mdoe explained: "I know some people might wonder why I have taken this direction instead of using other means. But I do not really want to bother people. I can live with one kidney."
However, Mdoe later abandoned his initial plan to sell his kidney as he resorted to set-up a paybill number to receive contributions.
He claimed that his change of mind was settled at after a number of people called him and asked him not to sell his kidney as they would help with the little money they have.
