Win-Win Deal Ngilu and Waititu Should Strike - Former NMG Manager Linus Gitahi

Former Nation Media Group (NMG) CEO Linus Gitahi on Thursday gave a win-win solution to settle the current stalement involving Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and her Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu.

Through his social media, Linus who is the is the current Chairman of Tropikal Brands (Africa) Limited stated that the two could negotiate to provide for each other using an alternative fuel-coal.

"Proposed win-win for Ngilu and Waititu. Ban the charcoal but mine the coal and sell pellets and let Waititu’s people buy as an alternative fuel. Kitui people benefit from mineral and Waititu People get fuel," he tweeted on Thursday.

Ever since leaving the media house as CEO, Linus has been a columnist for the Daily Nation.

In his latest article titled: Climate Change Threat real but turning the tide is within grasp he suggested that the country should engage in a nationwide tree planting season because the seedlings are available.

"We can make this a national issue, led by no less a person than the President, and the governors. We can identify areas to plant the trees in every county and the national government (I hope Environment CS Keriako Tobiko is reading this!) buys the seedlings from the various nurseries, including those sold by Wanjiku by the roadside.

"If well-managed, the initiative will attract many corporate bodies, the military and NYS, who can provide manpower and/or resources, and all Kenyans who can see this looming tragedy," he wrote.

He has equally kept abreast with the current political situation in the country, tweeting on emerging issues in the country.

"This Kenya debt talk is one-sided. We need to map against the debt our revenue projections to fully understand our capacity. Equally the potential wealth creation through project implementation should be taken into account. How money is being used should be the question," he conveyed.

In the row between Governors Ngilu and Waititu, the Kiambu boss on Monday went to court seeking orders to force his Kitui counterpart to reverse her decision to ban charcoal trading in her county.

However, on Wednesday, Justice John Mativo declined to issue the order ruling that Waititu had failed to persuade him that Ngilu had issued inflammatory statements.
