Barrack Muluka Responds to Alleged Dismissal from NASA Meeting by Raila Odinga

Amani National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Barrack Muluka has spoken on a media report alleging that Opposition leader Raila Odinga demanded that he leave a National Super Alliance (NASA) meeting on Monday.

Reports claimed that Raila had demanded the exit of Muluka, Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu and his Nambale counterpart Sakwa Bunyasi from the meeting held in Stoni Athi Resort on the outskirts of Nairobi.

In a conversation with Kenyans.co.ke, Muluka blasted those behind the report for 'irresponsible journalism', explaining that they had all met in the morning before they left NASA co-principals Raila, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula to have a closed-door meeting.

It had earlier been indicated that the Monday meeting was of the NASA summit, that is, the four principals.

"That is obviously a journalist who doesn't know their work! We were there at the start, we left the principals to meet and they will brief us after the meeting," Muluka explained.

He further noted that he was still at the venue as they waited for the principals to emerge.

Muluka stated that the media report should be ignored, describing the journalist who spread the information as 'half-baked'.

"We are here, and K24 are here. Why can't they ask yet they have our ear?...that kind of journalism should be ignored with the contempt it deserves," he stated.

Muluka had earlier alleged in a TV interview that Raila betrayed the three co-principals on January 30 when he was sworn in as the People's President, claiming he told them to switch off their phones and later expect a call that never came.

The NASA leaders are expected to hold a press conference after the Monday meeting which follows the surprise meeting of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga on Friday.

Mudavadi came out to claim that Raila had acted on his own when engaging in the talks.
