Majority Leader Aden Duale Gives Direction over Health CS Sicily Kariuki's Impeachment Motion

Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki fate lies in the balance after Majority Leader Aden Duale asked 20 legislators leading the impeachment motion against her to drop it.

In a statement to newsrooms, the Garissa Town MP stated that the matter would be handled internally by the Jubilee Parliamentary Group.

“We have resolved with the members that the matter needs to be dealt with internally through the Jubilee Parliamentary Group structure. We resolved to give a chance to the departmental committee on Health chaired by Hon Sabina Chege to investigate the matter and table their report in the House for debate,” he explained.

He added that the Health committee would have met with the CS by Friday as they prepare their report.

"Thereafter we will use the Jubilee structures in the House in resolving the matter arising from the recommendations of the health committee,” Duale conveyed.

In the impeachment motion against CS Kariuki had already garnered more than 150 signatures making it legible for discussion on the House floor.

The disgruntled MPs faulted the CS over her move to suspend Kenyatta National Hospital CEO Lily Koros without due procedure over a surgery mishap that painted the Referal facility in a bad light.

They cited “abuse of office and gross violation of rules and regulations” as reasons for pushing for her removal.

Duale's move comes a week after Deputy President William Ruto asked the Members of Parliament to go easy on CS Kariuki as he sought another solution that does not jeopardize the party's unity.
