Kenya Meterogical Department Rainfall Forecast

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a report which indicates the areas and times to expect rainfall in the country until March 19.

According to the forecast which was issued on Monday, heavy rains will be experienced in most parts of the country from March 13, both in the morning and afternoon hours.

In Nairobi, morning rains are expected to continue, and the showers will be relatively heavier in the second half of the forecast period.

The forecast also indicates that other parts within Nairobi will experience afternoon showers and occasional thunderstorms throughout the period.

The same is expected in other areas of the Central Highlands which include Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Embu and Tharaka Nithi.

Parts of the Rift Valley and Lake Victora Basin are expected to experience morning rains throughout the forecast period.

The regions which include; Siaya, Kisumu, Migori, Kisii, Trans Nzoaia, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gushu, Nandi, Laikipia will also experience afternoon and evening showers which will be accompanied by thunderstorms throughout the period.

The rainfall will be heavier from Thursday to the end of the forecast period, especially in the South Rift.

The North Eastern region of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir and Garissa Counties will experience afternoon showers from Thursday, which will intensify towards the end of the forecast period.

Kitui, Makueni, Machakos and Taita Taveta Counties will experience heavier showers starting Thursday to the end of forecast period.

Morning rains, afternoon showers, and thunderstorms are expected in Northwestern regions of Turkana, West Pokot, and Samburu from Thursday to Monday.

The Coastal region will experience heavy rainfall starting Friday.
