Several Vehicles Damaged After Tree Fall in Nairobi CBD

Several vehicles were badly damaged on Saturday afternoon after a huge tree fell at the Serena Hotel parking lot.

This is due to the heavy rainfall that is being experienced in the city, coupled with strong winds.

Kilimani OCPD Joseph Muthee, however, stated there were no casualties.

An owner of one of the damaged vehicles expressed shock at the incident but was relieved that no one was hurt.

He further stated that his insurance company will take up the matter.

The heavy downpour in the country has caused a lot of damage as on Friday, three people were confirmed dead at the Kamulu bridge along Kangundo road.

Elsewhere, five people were killed after they were swept away by flash floods in Mwingi East Constituency, Kitui County.

Reports indicate that the five were on a lorry transporting charcoal before being washed away by floods.

Mwingi Central police boss John Nyamu urged residents to avoid crossing rivers when it is raining. He further asked residents to be careful when water levels rise.

Two others were swept away in Narok on Tuesday, with police noting some deaths may have gone unreported elsewhere in the country.
