Speeding Government Car Kills KDF Soldier Along Lang'ata Road

A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier was on Monday knocked down and killed along Lang'ata Road by a GK-plated car.

The tragic incident is reported to have taken place at 6 a.m. where the government vehicle is said to have been speeding when it knocked the serviceman.

Witnesses claim that the soldier was crossing the road at the Lang'ata Barracks area when he met his death.

Confirming the incident, Langa’ta OCPD Elijah Maina added that the vehicle was headed to the Bomas of Kenya when the accident took place.

The OCPD told reporters that the body had been moved to the morgue as the government vehicle inspection unit launched investigations.

He, however, noted that the matter would be handled by the defence department.

The incident caused a traffic snarl-up for most of the morning along the busy road on both lanes as the body had not yet been moved an hour after the accident.

In a separate incident, two women perished after the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into a stalled lorry at Mulili along the Wote-Makindu road.

The 14-seater matatu, which was ferrying AIC Kithintu choir members, left many others injured five of who were rushed to the Makindu Sub-County Hospital with serious injuries.

The bodies of those who lost their lives were taken to Makindu Hospital Mortuary.
