Raila Odinga's Plan to Reverse Wetangula's Removal as Minority Leader

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga is set to chair a meeting of opposition senators intended to reverse the votes that removed Moses Wetangula as Minority Leader.

Odinga's meeting comes two days after the Senators defied him and replaced the Ford Kenya leader with Siaya lawmaker James Orengo.

The oust of Wetangula has since been seen as a threat to the coalition.

The parliamentary group meeting is also intended to bar ODM legislators from allegedly considering to remove Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa (Ford Kenya) as Deputy National Assembly Minority Whip.

"It is a matter of time before Wamalwa is ejected like his party boss. We are watching keenly how he reacts to Wetangula's ouster before we strike," an ODM lawmaker told The Standard.

However, Wamalwa asserted that he is not aware of any move to eject him.

"I cannot comment on what I am not aware of. As of now, that remains rumours," Wamalwa exclaimed.

The other three co-principals of the coalition have accused Odinga's ODM of asserting itself as the superior partner in NASA since the HarambeeHouse meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila.

However, it is not clear whether Mr Odinga will be joined by his three NASA principals at the meeting.

Ford Kenya, ANC and Wiper held their National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings on Tuesday to discuss the future of the coalition.
