Moses Kuria Starts Fight with MPs on Motion to Impeach CS Sicily Kariuki

Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria has started a new fight against his Jubilee counterparts over the tabling of a motion seeks to impeach Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki which has since been impeached.

Posting on his Facebook page, Kuria stated: "That the Hon Bashir motion to censure CS Cecily Kariuki will be defeated is not in doubt. What is annoying is this primitive 'Mtu Wetu' syndrome in those who signed the motion."

Kuria, defending the Cabinet Secretary added: "Cabinet Secretaries have a job to do."

The outspoken lawmaker commented on the issue hours after a motion was tabled in Parliament by Mandera North MP Bashir Abdullahi seeking to oust Ms Kariuki.

According to Abdullahi the motion, which was signed by 170 legislators, intended to push the CS out of office on grounds of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

However, the motion did not go down well with Kuria as he exclaimed: "So we censure Cecily over Koros and not appointing a Somali to KEMSA, we censure Tobiko for firing Emilio Mugo from KFS despite the wanton destruction of forests, what is the end to all this? The acting CEO at KEMSA is a Luhya. Tomorrow the Luhya Parliamentary group also moves to censure the CS for their own reason?"

The lawmaker further condemned Kipkekelion West MP Hillary Koech for supporting the motion instead of focusing on issues that will improve the welfare of his constituents.

"Other than Hon Bashir there are 87 other colleagues who have signed this motion led by Hillary Koech of Kipkellion West. Tell me how reinstatement of Koros will help the ordinary tea picking labourer in Kipkellion," declared Kuria.

Mr Kuria ultimately offered to help the parliamentarians understand some pertinent issues.

He noted: "I am floating an overnight tender for supply of common sense. Prospective bidders to meet me in parliament tomorrow."
