National Resistance Movement (NRM) is no Longer Part of NASA - Miguna Declares

Self-proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) General, Miguna Miguna, has declared that NRM is no longer part of the National Super Alliance (NASA).

This revelation has come a few days to his planned return to Nairobi following a controversial deportation to Canada.

Speaking to BBC Africa in London, Miguna has indicated that NRM no longer has links with NASA.

"I do not want to get into details of discussing NASA because I am not a member of NASA. NRM is a movement and right now we have no link at all (with NASA).

"We had links because we were dealing with similar issues on electoral justice. We were speaking from the same page. Now that they have done deals with Uhuru Kenyatta, we have nothing to do with them," Miguna quipped.

Miguna indicated that he had talked to NASA leader following his deal with Uhuru Kenyatta dubbed "Building Bridges to a New Kenyan Nation."

Questioned what was his view on the handshake, Miguna indicated that he had told off Raila for engaging in a deal as a private citizen and not consulting or representing the aspirations of his followers.

Miguna further argued that he would have welcomed the dialogue if it had occurred within a structured framework, "Raila Odinga or anybody else does not own Kenyans. Sovereignty vests with the people. Nobody can arrogate himself power over Kenyans."

Asked if he still believed in Raila as the People's President, Miguna stated: "Raila Odinga is not God. If he decides to do something that is contrary to public interest, as someone who believes in public integrity, I will criticize it. And that is what I have done to him in person."

Miguna further revealed that his return air ticket and the Global Mobilisation and Recruitment tour have been fully funded by NRM followers.
