Moses Wetang'ula Cedes Senate Minority Leader Position

Ford-K Party leader and National Super Alliance (NASA) Co-Principal Moses Wetang'ula has ceded his position as Senate Minority leader, and dismissed the planned NASA retreat to discuss the Senate wrangles as 'a court of hyenas' following his ouster.

At a press conference on Sunday afternoon, Wetang'ula declared that he would not take part in the retreat and that he did not bargain to become a Minority Leader, stating that he had been subjected to name-calling and humiliation.

"I am not embattled in any way. I am at peace. There is nothing to discuss. I did not bargain to be the minority leader

"I shall and will not participate in that retreat. That is like walking into a court of hyenas," he stated while flanked by party members.

The declaration clears the way for Siaya Senator James Orengo and his Kakamega counterpart Cleophas Malala to assume the roles of  Minority Leader and Deputy respectively.

The Senator had on Saturday vowed to 'teach Raila (NASA Leader) a lesson' following his decision to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta without informing them and his ouster in the senate orchestrated by Raila's ODM.

He stated that he would regroup with fellow NASA Co-Principals Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka and punish Raila for what he termed 'betrayal of the highest order'.

Addressing teachers in Chwele at a meeting of Ngarisha Sacco, Wetang'ula stated that Raila's conduct was unacceptable.

Mudavadi had also rubbished Raila's deal with Uhuru on Saturday, describing it as 'hollow and inconsequential'.

"It remains hollow without a public interest agenda and institutional framework to set it off," he stated.
