National Super Alliance (NASA)-allied businessman Jimi Wanjigi on Monday night pleaded with police officers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to arrest him in solidarity with self-styled National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Miguna Miguna.
As a nine-hour stand-off persisted following Miguna's return to Kenya which was rejected by the Government, Wanjigi asked police to open the door of the room where Miguna was being held with Siaya Senator James Orengo and other members of his legal team.
"I also want to be arrested. Please arrest me. Just open the door and put me under custody.
"My friend, this is not a jail this is Kenya. Don't spoil a good country... Open and jail me also please," Wanjigi pleaded.
The police on the other side refused to comply as Wanjigi started pushing on the door while Orengo looked on.

Wanjigi kept telling the officers that he would cease being a problem once he was in their custody.
NASA leader Raila Odinga had also made his way to JKIA and later left without addressing journalists, a visibly angry look plastered on his face.
Miguna stated that he was happy that Raila was there despite his recent criticism of the opposition chief.
An attempt by the Government to re-deport Miguna after he told the Captain of a Dubai-bound plane that he would not fly with him against his will.
"I'm very happy Raila is here. We have to criticize people, we have to criticize ourselves. We have to be introspective," Miguna stated.
