5 Politicians Kenyans Think Can Be the Next President - IPSOS

The latest opinion poll by Ipsos Synovate has listed the politicians Kenyans think are likely to ever become presidents, whether in 2022 or in the future presidential elections.

The poll indicates that 30 percent of Kenyans believe that Deputy President William Ruto is the most likely politician to be president in any election held anytime from now.

He is closely followed by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, who is in a neck to neck race with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.

Announcing the results, lead Researcher Tom Wolf further divulged that National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga came in fourth on the list.

According to the poll, the Opposition leader is followed by two of his co-principals who weren't singled out.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua came in last in the list and according to Mr Wolf, his position was attributed to the fact that it was just until recently that he outrightly declared his interest in the top job.

However, Mr Wolf insisted that the polls were done before the historic handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the NASA leader on March 9.

Wolf added that the change of political alignment could have changed Kenyans standing on the listing of the most probable presidential candidates.

Ipsos also stated that 2022 presidential politics started in Kenya immediately the results of the 2017 general elections were announced.

Additionally, Ipsos highlighted that all politicians on the list have previously announced their aspirations to clinch the position.
