Governor Mike Sonko Fires Finance Executive Danvas Makori

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has sent the county's Finance Executive Danvas Makori and chief officer Ekaya Alumasi home pending investigation.

Makori, who held the Agriculture docket before he was transferred to head Finance, is alleged to have been working for people fighting Governor Sonko.

Sonko allegedly established on Wednesday evening that Makori had been giving out information to people who were mentioned in the Ksh21 Billion syndicate during Dr Evans Kidero's regime.

According to an audit report by KPMG commissioned by Sonko and released early March, Nairobi County lost over Ksh21 Billion between 2013 and 2017.

However, Makori, who was trusted to hold the Finance docket, allegedly went behind Sonko's back and was in constant communication with Kidero, his associates would jeopardize investigations.

On Wednesday, while chairing a committee on construction of a Fire Station in Kangudo which has stalled over graft allegation, Sonko indicated that anyone implicated in the Ksh21 Billion will go home pending investigations.

"It does not matter who you are, where you come from or what you have done. This is serious business and we must all deliver and serve Nairobians as we had promised during the campaign period," Sonko warned.

Deputy director of Communication Elkana Jacob who also the chief press officer said that the issue is being handled by serious detectives and once done with investigations, the matter will be brought to the public.

“My boss just received preliminary report lest not jeopardize the details by officers. Once they are done it will be relayed to the public," he communicated.

"The KPMG report is not a joke and it's just a matter of time before you start seeing people being prosecuted. Makori cannot go behind his boss and start leaking crucial information to key people who were mentioned in that report, especially Sonko’s enemies," Elkana quoted one of the investigators.
