Wiper Party Convenes Emergency Meeting to Decide Kalonzo Musyoka's Fate

The Wiper Party will convene an emergency meeting on Monday in a bid find a way to position Kalonzo Musyoka and the Ukambani region strategically in light of the expected merger between  ANC's Musalia Mudavadi and Ford-Kenya's Moses Wetangula.

Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr blamed the four principals for the tension that was threatening the dismantlement of the coalition.

He explained that the NASA leadership in Parliament would only be disbanded by a joint resolution by the National Delegates Conference of the four affiliate parties.

“The problem with the whole NASA saga, be it its registration as a political party, the strengthening of affiliate parties or the viability of the coalition as an entity, just points to a breakdown of communication at the Summit level.

“The meeting will either give direction or spell out what the party intends to do, particularly Kalonzo, going forward.

“I saw Ford Kenya going to see Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday. Everybody is positioning himself. Wiper and the Kamba leadership have arranged that meeting on Monday. It will involve a conglomeration of leadership from Ukambani to exchange ideas or chart the way forward for the future of Kalonzo," he was quoted by The Star.

On his part, Kalonzo stated that the event would be an earthshaking event.

"I was only invited by the conveners. It is a meeting of the community where they want to shape their political direction. It is not just Wiper but all Ukambani leaders," he conveyed.

Earlier last week, Kalonzo had suggested that NASA should be registered as a political party.

The Wiper leader noted that individual parties should not be done away with after NASA gets registered.

However, on Friday, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi declared that Raila Odinga was not the NASA leader.

In  a statement sent to newsrooms, Mudavadi faulted those referring to Odinga as the NASA boss stating: "NASA doesn’t have the title of ‘NASA Leader."

"The only honorary title shared by the party leaders of the four partner parties has been either NASA Principal or NASA Co-Principal," asserted Mudavadi.
